Dear Friends and Constituents,
Thanksgiving is once again upon us. For many of us, our family gatherings during this time may be the most we see of many of our loved ones during the year. We find comfort in knowing that no matter how long it has been we can always pick up where we left off with our family and friends around the Thanksgiving table.
As we worked to finalize our family’s Thanksgiving plans this week, I could not help but think of the many families who will have an empty seat at their Thanksgiving table this year. With the War on Terror being fought around the globe many of our nation’s young men and women in armed service will spend this holiday season far away from family and friends, living in difficult, demanding, and often dangerous conditions. I am so thankful for what they do and will continue to pray for all of them.
This Thanksgiving my family like so many other American families, will visit and catch up on the year that has passed, we will enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner and enjoy the time we have available to us to spend together. At the heart of Thanksgiving is our gratefulness to God for his grace, mercy, love and protection. All of us, as Americans, have truly been blessed to be part of this great country.
