Dear Friends and Constituents,
Two days ago, members of the Minnesota Senate met to elect a new Majority Leader after Senator Koch’s resignation. As most of you are aware, the leadership team was elected yesterday. Senator David Senjem was elected as our new Majority Leader. Senator Claire Robling from Jordan, Senator Ted Lillie from Woodbury, Senator Roger Chamberlain from Lino Lakes, and I will serve as Assistant Majority Leaders. Senator Senjem may appoint two additional members to serve as Assistant Majority Leaders within seven days of his election.
All of our Senate members are competent and gracious leaders, and I am honored to have been elected as an Assistant Majority Leader. It is a new day for Senate Republicans and in this new role I will continue to prioritize policies that encourage job growth in Minnesota.
We made significant progress last session and we intend to build on those successes as we look at ways to improve how government operates and reduce the tax burden on families and job creators. We have many reasons to be optimistic about the next year and the opportunities and fresh perspective our new Senate leadership will bring to Minnesota.
Today is a new beginning and a time to move forward. Though there are significant changes to the structure of the Senate, the message we stand on is the same as the message Minnesota voters sent last November. In the last session, we moved common sense legislation forward…but more needs to be done.
In this session our main focus will be to bring additional reforms to the areas I originally campaigned on. The process of reforming our government and making it more responsible to the people is probably a battle for every generation. With your support I want to continue to serve you for at least one more term.
A State Senate campaign costs more than $50,000 to run. Will you consider helping me now? After January 1st, I can accept personal contributions up to $250 per person or $500 per couple. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Make checks payable to “Gazelka Volunteer Committee” and mail to: 15229 Edgewood Drive, Suite 100, Baxter, MN 56425.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warmest Regards,
Senator Paul Gazelka
